The census of Ireland 1901 and 1911 is a valuable tool in Irish family research where many family genealogists begin their search. In 2020 I decided to put the census of 1901 and 1911 for Robertstown in written format making it a time effective, readily accessible tool.
It is a compilation of genealogical records intended for research purposes including the census of 1901 and 1911 for the district electoral division of Robertstown, Co. Kildare and relative birth, marriage and death records. The National Archives of Ireland and Irishgenealogy.ie kindly granted permission for the use of all records.
The National Archives of Ireland house both censuses. They are free to search online and in person. The townlands recorded are Blackwood, Blackwood Little, Brockagh, Coolree, Graigues, Moods, Mylerstown, Robertstown, Robertstown East and Robertstown West. Blackwood Little was not a recorded townland in the 1911 census. The 1901 census conducted Sunday 31 March 1901 was enumerated by Constable James Kavanagh. The 1911 census conducted Sunday 2 April 1911 was enumerated by Constable Michael Conneran. All census records are transcribed as found from The National Archives of Ireland online database.
Birth, marriage and death records relating to those recorded in both census can be freely accessed on irishgenealogy.ie. They hold birth records 1864-1925, marriage records 1845-1950 and death records 1871-1975. The General Register office updates any further records to the website. All birth, marriage and death records included are transcribed as found.
As printing costs are high the decision was made to print and bind the books in house. Contact robertstownhistoryoffamily@gmail.com for any enquiries or to register interest in purchasing a copy.
